Overview:
RemoteAccess Ultra-AutoCD (RAACD) is a product created by
RemoteAccess Ultra-Software. This program will allow you to
easily tell your users which CD is in your CD-ROM drive, and
will display the name of the CD on an ANSI screen that you
design.
Disclaimer:
This program comes with no guarantee of any kind, expressed or
implied. This program works on the systems it was tested on
and may or may not work for you. Any damaged caused by this
program is not the responsibility of the author or their
associates. Use this program at your own risk.
'RAACD' refers to all the files and executables in this archive
and may not be modified, decompiled, or otherwise reverse-
engineered in any way. If the archive you have is not the
original archive, then it is recommended you get a new one from
the author.
It is encouraged that RAACD be distributed freely by modem, disk,
or CD by a software dealer. No price maybe charged for the
program itself, but a vendor may charge their normal price for
putting the program onto disk or CD.
Installation:
Creating Directories --
First thing, create a directory to hold the contents of the
archive (hereby referred to as D:\BBS\RAACD\) and unzip the
archive into this directory.
Environment Variables --
RAACD - 1 -
RemoteAccess Ultra-AutoCD v2.00
There is an environment variables that must be set. The first
is the universal RAUSW variables which is used with any
program written by RAUSW and it's the directory to the config-
uration files. This is useful when running multiple RAUSW
programs to keep a collection of configuration files in one
directory (hereby referred to as D:\BBS\RAUSW\). Example:
SET RAUSW=D:\BBS\RAUSW (trailing backslash is not needed,
but it won't hurt)
Configuration --
Configuring RAACD is rather simple. Just use your favorite
text editor to edit the RAACD.CFG file (and this file should
be in the RAUSW directory during run-time). Here is a sample
Sub-Zero <--- SysOp Name
Frozen Zone BBS <--- BBS Name
G:\ <--- CD-ROM Drive Letter
40 <--- X-Coordinate
14 <--- Y-Coordinate
F0 <--- Color
C <--- Justification
D:\TEMP <--- Temporary Directory
F:\TXTFILES <--- Text Files Directory
SVCOLLECT4 <--- Volume Label
Games CD <--- CD Name
SVCOLLECT5 <--- Volume Label
Windows CD <--- CD Name
SVCOLLECT6 <--- Volume Label
Platinum CD <--- CD Name
SVCOLLECT7 <--- Volume Label
Emerald CD <--- CD Name
SVCOLLECT8 <--- Volume Label
Ruby CD <--- CD Name
SVCOLLECT9 <--- Volume Label
Games II CD <--- CD Name
etc.
etc.
etc.
Line 1: SysOp's Name
Line 2: BBS Name
Line 3: Drive Letter For CD-ROM Drive.
Line 4: The X-Coordinate when placing the CD Name on the
ANSI Screen.
Line 5: The Y-Coordinate when placing the CD Name on the
ANSI Screen.
Line 6: The Color of the CD Name. Here's the chart:
RAACD - 2 -
RemoteAccess Ultra-AutoCD v2.00
Column 1 Column 2
0 Black 8 Gray
1 Blue 9 Light Blue
2 Green A Light Green
3 Cyan B Light Cyan
4 Red C Light Red
5 Magenta D Light Magenta
6 Brown E Yellow
7 White F High Intensity White
The colors in column 1 are available for background,
and the colors in both columns are available for
foreground.
Choose your colors, pick the corresponding letters
together. Examples:
Foreground White (7), Background Blue (1) = 71
Foreground Light Red (C), Background Green (2) = C2
Foreground High Intensity White (F),
Background Black (0) = F0
Line 7: Left (L), Center (C), or Right (R) Justification.
This is how the CD Name will be justified with the
coordinates given above.
Line 8: A directory where a small list file will be created
to aid RAACD in reading the CD-ROM volume label.
Line 9: The textfiles directory. This is the directory where
RAACDTMP.ANS will be found and RAACD.ANS will be
created.
From then on, the pattern is:
Volume Label
CD Name
Volume Label
CD Name
.
.
.
You can have up to 1000 pairs of Volume Labels and CD Names.
The Volume Label corresponds to the CD Name directly below it.
Optional Data --
Running RAACD is simple as well. Put this into your optional
data on your TOP menu:
*c /c D:\BBS\RAACD\RAACD.EXE
You may also have to use the *m parameter (swap RA out of
RAACD - 3 -
RemoteAccess Ultra-AutoCD v2.00
memory) depending on your system. If you are having trouble
executing it correctly, (such as "Abnormal Termination"
errors), you may also want to use the *m parameter.
The very next line in your TOP menu should be a Type-5, to
display the ANSI screen. Simply enough, RAACD on the optional
data line will do it.
External Files --
RAACDTMP.ANS is the template ANSI file to be used when
creating RAACD.ANS (the file that is displayed to the user).
A sample RAACDTMP.ANS is included in this package. You may
edit it or create one from scratch.
Error Messages:
RAACD will give you a simple error message when it cannot find
it's configuration, or other files.
In the rare case that you receive an error that was not
suppose to occur, you will see two red numbers at the top of
your display. If this occurs, please send these numbers to
any one of the support sites so that you may receive
assistance with this problem, and so that routines will be
setup for these errors for the next version.
Registration:
Benefits of Registering --
■ All Registration nags will go away.
■ A permanant account will be created for you on Frozen Zone
BBS (RAUSW * HQ *) with an access level higher than Visiting
SysOp.
■ Your conscience will be free from the thoughts of running an
unregistered program.
All RemoteAccess Ultra-Software programs require a registration
of either $10.00 (US), $5.00 (US), or absolutely nothing. The
way we determine this is we decide how much time it took us and
what the program is. Is it a large program, medium sized, or a
small utility.
This program falls into the category of small utility, meaning
that you pay absolutely nothing for the registration fee.
Simply send in the registration form below filled out
completely, and you will receive all of the registration
benefits of being a registered RAUSW user.
